Makin' Copies & More! is so much more than a print and copy shop, as the name hints.
We have made many enhancements and service additions, including a retail section of craft supplies, with much of the Tim Holtz collection.
Makin' Copies & More! also works with our neighboring non-profit store, Make it Yours Upcycle Center, to offer additional space for classes and workshops. Our current class and workshop schedule, as well as sales and other events, will be posted on social media.
Makin' Copies & More! was born a bit out of necessity and good timing. Judy Van Hecke was ready to retire from The Shopper paper and print shop in the fall of 2021. She owned the building at 108 and 106 N Main St, which housed The Shopper and non-profit thrift store, Make it Yours Upcycle Center.
Make it Yours had outgrown their space in just a year of being in the Maquoketa location and wasn't quite sure what to do. Judy was selling her business and the building, and Make it Yours Upcycle's founding director, Ann Lenth, was worried about the store's future after the building was sold.
Ann spoke to the Make It Yours board of directors and said she would personally purchase the building since it was impossible for the non-profit to buy it. Ann's purchase would assure the store's future as well as storage and classrooms. Ann was not interested in purchasing The Shopper business, but the print shop seemed like a good investment. Judy retired on October 1, 2021, and Makin' Copies & More! was born on October 4, 2021.
Makin' Copies & More! will carry on the more than 40 years of quality printing services Judy and her predecessor offered. We will add updates and new services along the way.
We look forward to serving Maquoketa and surrounding areas for many years to come. Please note that another party purchased the newspaper portion of the business and we are not affiliated with it.
